This week’s SmackDown started as the ring was seen decorated in a different manner. Quite clearly it was for the Viking Rules match that was scheduled for this week. This was definitely going to be the feud ending match of these two Tag Teams.

Match 1 – The Viking Raiders defeated The New Day in a Viking Rules Match

WWE SmackDown 02.09.2022 Results & Ratings

It was an amazingly entertaining match. It was booked for 15 minutes and this was the pay per view standard match of this week. We still can’t believe they are delivery in these matches on free television. At the ending parts it became a little slow. At the end of the match, the Vikings put Xavier Woods through double tables and pinned him.

Backstage Sami Zayn was seen getting ready for the two year title reign celebration of Roman Reigns. The Usos confronted him. He showed some of the photos he gathered of special moments of Roman. Once again Jey questioned him for not hitting Kevin Owens last week. Sami said that he was trying his best.

Match 2 – Karrion Kross defeated Drew Gulak

It was, as expected, a squash, a very easy win earned on the Smackdown debut of Karrion Kross. Good to see Drew Gulak back after a long time though. Kross made Gulak submit with the Coquina Clutch.

Ronda Rousey came out to the arena with an envelope in her hand. She said that this envelope contained a letter from the WWE Global Headquarters regarding her suspension. Adam Pearce came out and she asked Adam to read the letter loud. The letter red as the suspension was lifted. Adam expressed his frustration on Ronda and at the end he called her a b*tch. Ronda attacked him and nailed him with the Cross Armbar.

Match 3 – The Hit Row defeated The Maximum Male Models

This match was booked for only 3 minutes and it was also the debut of the Maximum Male Models. It was a failed debut though since the were beaten pretty easily. Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo tried to assist the Models but it did not work. After the match, Models, Garza and Carrillo started beating down Hit Row as Street Profits came out for the rescue.

Match 4 – Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Happy Corbin

Corbin organised and Open challenge which was answered by Nakamura and it was a pretty easy win for the Japanese wrestler. We seriously do not understand why Corbin is being forced to job like this. Nakamura pinned Corbin with the Kinshasa.

Backstage Corbin was walking in disappointment. A huge Limousine stood in front of him. It was not soon who was inside the car, a voice from inside was heard who asked Corbin to get inside the car. Clearly it was JBL. We hope finally Corbin would get some better bookings.

Match 4 – Butch defeated Ludwig Kaiser

This match was booked for around 7 minutes and it was quite a good match. It might have been short but it was quite entertaining and this technical and dirty wrestling combination was really fun to see. This also might have been the first singles win for Butch on the main roster.

Next up was the Two Year Title Reign Celebration of Roman Reigns. The Usos and Sami Zayn were seen standing inside the ring. They cut a promo on Roman Reigns, once again Sami got hindered by Jey Uso. They introduced the WWE Undisputed Universal champion Roman Reigns.

Roman was seen in the backstage getting out of his car. As soon as he got out of the car he got kicked right into the head by Drew McIntyre. He then entered the arena and completely destroyed the Usos and Sami Zayn. Drew McIntyre celebrated inside the ring as this week’s SmackDown went off air.

Overall there were some good moments and some were quite weak on this week’s SmackDown. The opening match was really good. Butch vs. Ludwig Kaiser was also a very good match. It is also interesting to see where Ronda Rousey’s storyline is going.  The final segment was good too, just not enough of Roman Reigns.

About the down sides, the SmackDown women’s Championship segment was quite weak. Just a backstage segment was not enough for a go home show. Too much time wasted with the pre taped footages. We give this week’s Smackdown 2 out of 5.
