Next on this week’s Smackdown, Drew McIntyre came out to the arena . He reminded everyone that WrestleMania was only four weeks away and he still did not have a match. So he decided to challenge Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental championship. Sheamus came out to interrupt Drew McIntyre.

Sheamus said that he needed the title more than anyone else so it should be him challenging Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental championship at WrestleMania 39. The duo started are going with each other and Sheamus accused Drew that he backstabbed him and Drew said that Sheamus lost his opportunity already so he should move on.

LA Knight came out to the arena next and said that they could not have a WrestleMania without him and he deserved to be on the Intercontinental championship picture more than them. Drew and Sheamus did not pay any attention to them and kept talking to each other.

The New Day came out to the arena next and they mocked about LA Knight begging to have a match at WrestleMania 39. They said that LA Knight thought there would be no WrestleMania without him but he could not even when a match on his own at SmackDown.

Karrion Kross interfered next, maybe for the same demand but he did not have to say anything as the wrestlers standing inside the ring started fighting each other. Sheamus was the last man standing who was taken out by Karrion Kross. The segment ended here and the Intercontinental championship picture for WrestleMania 39 is still unclear.

Match 3 – Shayna Baszler defeated Tegan Nox

This match was booked for only two minutes and it was a dominant victory for Tegan Nox. Ronda Rousey was seen injured who was along with Shayna. Shayna made Tegan Nox submit with the Cross Armbar. We wonder what they are planning about the future of this feud.

Bobby Lashley came out to the arena. He addressed Bray Wyatt and said that if he was not man enough to say sim on Monday Night RAW, he came to see him on Friday Night Smackdown on his own show. So he called out Bray Wyatt to face him. Uncle Howdy’s music hit and Howdy hit Lashley from behind. Lashley what back and as he was about to hit a Spear, the lights went off. When the lights were on, Howdy was gone.

Match 4 – Solo Sikoa defeated Sami Zayn

This match was booked for only five minutes and it was pretty shocking that Sami lost a match at this stage. It might not be a clean win, but what does it matter? They could have had this match end in Double DQ or No Contest. Sami did not have to lose this match. He really did not. Solo pinned him with a Samoan Spike.

After the match, Jimmy and Solo attempted to beat him down even more. But this time Sami fought back, beat them down and escaped. Once again, there was no point in having Sami facing a defeat. We can understand they wanted to keep Solo undefeated, but there were other ways to keep him undefeated. Sami escaped through the crowd as this week’s SmackDown went off air.

Overall, this week’s SmackDown had the potential to be a great show, but it failed to live up to its heights. Honestly they are failing to build a WrestleMania worthy feud between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. People are more concerned about the next chapter of the Bloodline vs. Sami Zayn feud than Cody Rhodes.

There are lot of downfalls about this week’s SmackDown. Liv Morgan becoming a jobber is a terrible thing. They had other wrestlers in their locker room to job to Rhea, but they picked Liv, not a very good decision. That crying little girl in the crowd said a lot of things about it.

Lastly, Sami losing by pin fall is a terrible decision. It made WWE‘s is mindset completely clear, they do not view Sami aise hi potential main event star, and they want us to see it clearly. Fans always complained that Vince McMahon never cared about what the fans wanted to see. Now it looks like Triple H does not think very differently either. We give this week’s Smackdown 1 out of 5.
