This week’s SmackDown started as footage from Royal Rumble was shown where Roman Reigns cost the WWE title to Brock Lesnar and later he went on to win the Royal Rumble match. It had also been shown that on Monday Night RAW he announced it that he would challenge Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38.
The Bloodline came out to the arena. Paul Heyman was officially a member of the Bloodline once again. They entered the ring and Paul Heyman explained why he betrayed Brock Lesnar and parted with WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. He also said that there will be no title vs title match at Wrestlemania.

Goldberg made a shocking entrance next. It has been rumoured for weeks that he is coming back to challenge Roman Reigns in a dream match. Goldberg said that he acknowledged him as his next victim and he challenge theme for the Universal Heavyweight Championship at the Elimination Chamber pay per view event.
Match 1 – Ricochet defeated Ridge Holland
The match was short and it was booked for near about three minutes. It was an easy victory for Ricochet. Holland was distracted by a heated conversation between Sheamus and Cesaro, Ricochet took the advantage of the situation.
Match 2 – Sheamus and Ridge Holland defeated Cesaro and Ricochet
After the previous match, Sheamus and Holland demanded tag team match which Adam Pearce official. Once again Cesaro had been created as a core jobber who was pinned by Holland and it was clean.
Match 3 – Jimmy Uso defeated Eric
This was the shortest match of the night which was booked for only one and a half minutes at Jimmy Uso pinned Eric with a Frog Splash.
Match 4 – Aliyah defeated Natalya by Count Out
Another short match, booked for only two minutes. Aliyah dominated the most part of the match. At the end when Natalya was holding a little bit of control of the match, Aliyah managed to beat her by count out.
Drew McIntyre came out to the area next. He talked about coming back from the injury so quick and how he managed it. Happy Corbin interfered and and mocked him for getting eliminated by Brock Lesnar from the Royal Rumble match. Madcap Moss tried to sneak attack Drew but he got beaten down. Drew said that he would make Corbin’s life a living hell each and every week.
Match 5 – Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Jinder Mahal
This match was booked for only three minutes and Jinder Mahal was treated as a jobber in this match what he is in WWE today. Sami Zayn was in the commentary table during this match who did not get involved in it. Nakamura pinned Jinder with the Kinshasa.
Match 6 – The New Day defeated Angel and Humberto
Why is Big E appearing on SmackDown regularly? Has he switched brand already? About the match, it was the best match of the night and it was booked for seven minutes. Big E pinned Angel with the Big Ending to earn the victory for his side.
WWE SmackDown Women’s champion Charlotte Flair came out to the arena. Sonya Deville who was already in the ring informed that Ronda Rousey would be challenging Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38. Charlotte had to pick a different opponent for herself for Wrestlemania. Charlotte picked Sasha Banks.
Ronda Rousey came out to the arena. She announced that she would be facing Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 38. At the end, the conversation went a little physical but Sonya Deville got beaten down by Ronda while trying to stop her from attacking Charlotte. It is still not cleared what would happen to the Becky – Ronda scenario. Ronda Rousey stood tall inside the ring as this week’s SmackDown went off air.
Overall it was a good show. Matches were not very good as usual. But Goldberg and Ronda Rousey his appearance made the show really special. Cesaro being treated as a jobber day after day is not a very good scene either. We give this show 2.5 stars out of 5.
