This week’s SmackDown started as footage from this week’s Monday Night RAW was shown where Jey Uso finally made his decision as he betrayed Sami Zayn and sided with his brother Jimmy Uso. As the Bloodline was beating down Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes came out to help him.
Backstage Paul Heyman The Usos to Smackdown. Heyman hugged Jey Uso and said that they were all really proud of his decision, so as the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. Kayla Braxton asked Jey why he decided to attack Sami Zayn this week on RAW. Jey said that he would answer everything in the middle of that ring tonight.
WWE SmackDown 10.03.2023 Results & Ratings Part 1
Match 1 – Fatal 5 Way to determine the no. 1 contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39 – Sheamus and Drew McIntyre simultaneously won
This match was booked for 11 minutes and it was a very entertaining match. It was already reported before that the Intercontinental Championship match for WrestleMania 39 will be a triple threat, and that is exactly going to happen. Sheamus and Drew took pin falls simultaneously and both were declared winners. Even the fans were chanting “triple threat.” It is definitely going to be a triple threat match at WrestleMania 39.
Backstage on Smackdown Kayla Braxton interviewed Paul Heyman where she asked about the actions of Jey Uso on RAW. Heyman talked about Cody Rhodes getting involved at the end of the attack and threatened him that he would get punished for getting into the business of the Bloodline.
Backstage Drew McIntyre and Sheamus were seen fighting as they could not come into any conclusion about the Intercontinental championship yet. The Brawling Brutes came out to separate the duo. It is good that they are trying to build the hype for the triple threat for WrestleMania 39.
WWE announced the first inductive into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2023 and it was none other than Rey Mysterio. They also presented an excellent promo package. It was a really good decision. Hopefully he gets his match against his son Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 39 as well.
Rey Mysterio came out to the arena after the announcement to thank the fans. As he was about to say something, The Judgment Day interfered. Dominik Mysterio had the mic and condemned WWE for inducting Rey into the Hall Of Fame. He said that he was ashamed to be his son. Legado Del Fantasma came out in support of Rey and challenged Judgement Day in a match.
Match 2 – The Judgment Day defeated Legado Del Fantasma
This match was booked for 6 minutes and it did a good job to build the feud between Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio. Dominik picked up the pin fall win after Rey created an unintentional distraction and Damian Priest assisted Dominik to take the pin fall win.
After the match, Dominik Mysterio called out his dad inside the ring and ask the rest of the Judgement Day to empty the ring as he wanted to have him alone inside the ring. He said that he did not deserve to be in the Hall Of Fame. He also said that he regretted to be his son, and he would rather prefer to be Eddie Guerrero’s son. Once again he tried to provoke Rey to a fight, but Rey avoided it and said that no matter what he did he would never fight him.
Match 3 – The Viking Raiders defeated Ricochet and Braun Strowman
This match was booked for eight and a half minutes and it was a pretty good Tag Team action. The match was mostly dominated by the babyface side but the Vikings dragged out the much needed victory at the end of this match. Ivar pinned Ricochet after hitting a Body Splash.
