This week’s SmackDown started as WWE paid a video tribute to the 9/11 victims on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the tragic incident. It was quite an emotional moment.
Roman Reigns along with the Usos and Paul Heyman came out to the arena. They entered the ring as Roman Reigns when the question came about the sports entertainment WWE ran it and The Bloodlines ran the WWE. Quite clearly this was a message to AEW.

Brock Lesnar came out to the arena. He received amazing reaction from the fans. He walked around the ring and then entered the ring. They both stood face to face. Heyman asked him why he chose to stand against Roman Reigns. Lesnar asked him back why he did not tell Roman about his arrival at SummerSlam. Roman looked at Heyman, confused.
The Bloodlines left the ring. Heyman kept standing with Brock Lesnar and he introduced Lesnar in his signature style. Brock attempted to hit Heyman as Roman Reigns saved him. Lesnar attempted to attack Roman as The Usos came for the help. Lesnar then beat down the Usos.
Match 1 – Big E, The Mysterios, Rick Boogs and King Nakamura defeated Sami Zayn, Apollo Crews, Commander Azeez, Dolph Zigger and Robert Roode
NBA star Tray Young was present during the match who was invited by Sami Zayn. About the match it was good but not anything special. Big E pinned Sami Zayn with the Big Ending to earn the victory for his side.
Next up is the contract signing for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship between the champion Becky Lynch and the Challenger Bianca Belair. Bianca came out to the arena first. She said that she had utter respect for Becky Lynch but she changed her mind. At extreme rules she claims she will take her title back.
Becky Lynch came out next. There was a little bit of botch as Becky struggled to untie her title from her waist. Becky entered the ring and reminded what happened at Summerslam. She was unhappy with the way fans treated her. You find the contract and said she would do the same thing what she did to her at SummerSlam. So Becky is a heel officially.
Match 2 – Seth Rollins defeated Edge
The match went on for nearly 15 minutes and what an amazing match it was. Near Falls were the best things about the match. Both athletes were really good. The ending was quite dramatic. Seth hit Edge with a low blow which is the referee missed. Seth hit a number of kicks and then the Curb Stomp to pin him. The medical team came out to the aid of Edge after the match. The injury is not confirm if it was kayfabe. But it looked kayfabe.
Edge was taken to the hospital as Seth was asked backstage how he felt. Seth sounded really confused, as if he did not like what happened. This was perhaps a potential face turn for Seth Rollins.
Match 3 – The Street Profits defeated The Usos by DQ, Usos retained
Another great match. It had all the qualities to feature on any main event on any show. There was ‘this is awesome’ chant during this match. The Street Profits were closing in on a victory as Roman Reigns attacked them.
The Demon Finn Balor entered the arena. So at Extreme Rules the Demon will challenge for the universal Championship. The duo stood face to face at this week’s Smackdown went off air.
Overall this week’s Smackdown was quite good. All the segments and the matches were quite relevant to the ongoing storylines. However there were only three matches in the show, and all of them were quite good. The battle between Edge and Seth rollins was just amazing. We give this week 3.5 stars out of 5.
