This week’s SmackDown started as Logan Paul came out to the arena who had a heated conversation with Roman Reigns on Twitter. He entered the ring and discussed the Twitter incident with the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns that took place recently. He then invited Roman Reigns for an interview tomorrow.

The Bloodline came out to the arena, except Roman Reigns of course. Paul Heyman was back. Heyman and Paul had a discussion about the Twitter incident, and Heyman dared Logan not to invite Roman Reigns. Logan say it that he might end up challenging Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.

Sami Zayn interfered the conversation and tried to talk to Logan. But Logan punched him right into the face and knocked him out. As the Bloodline attempted to attack Logan he escaped. The segment was not at all fun to watch because of the audience reaction, they continuously booed Logan Paul. We do not understand why the American audience do not like him. He has already given some good matches. How much does he have to prove himself more?

Match 1 – Ricochet defeated Sami Zayn

It was an amazing match. This is the one that is the pay per view standard match of this week’s Smackdown. A lot of things happened in this match, let us talk about the most important things. This 10 minute long match had some special moments. There were of course near falls.

At a point, Sami Zayn and Jey Uso almost fought each other which is the most important part of this match. At the end, Ricochet pinned Sami with the Shooting Star Press and it was a clean win. As the Bloodline was about to attack Ricochet and Logan Paul, Madcap Moss came out for the help with a steel chair in hand.

A pre tapped promo footage of Karrion Kross and Scarlett was shown where they promoted his feud with Drew McIntyre. It was a good promo but this is not enough to promote such a High Voltage feud. Most of the weeks there presenting pre taped promos only.

The Maximum Male Models where doing the exhibition of the Back to School collection as they got attacked by Braun Strowman. As the Monster among Men enter the ring, he got attacked by The Alpha Academy. The Academy was finally able to to get Braun off of his feet and escaped. Braun challenged Otis in a one on one match but Chad Gable prevented Otis from fighting.

Damage CTRL came out to the arena. They talked about their Women’s Tag Team Championship win. They said that since they are the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion they could go to any show. Raquel Rodriguez interrupted them. She expressed her anger on  them for hurting her partner last week.

Match 2 – Bayley defeated Raquel Rodriguez

This match was booked for seven minutes and it was a good match. The match was mostly dominated by Rodriguez but there were back to back outside interferences, as a result, Bayley pinned Rodriguez with the Rose Plant Face First. After the match, Iyo Sky straddled Rodriguez and started beating her. Shotzi interfered and saved Rodriguez. So Shotzi turned babyface here.

Another pre taped backstage promo footage showed Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan having a face to face conversation which ended up  Liv Morgan challenging Ronda Rousey in an Extreme Rules match at the Extreme Rules paper view event. Ronda accepted the challenge.

Match 3 – WWE NXT North American Championship – Solo Sikoa defeated Madcap Moss to retain

This match was booked for 11 minutes and it was a great main roster debut for Solo Sikoa. Neither of the two men dominated the match but Madcap was slightly the stronger force. Sami Zayn assisted Solo from outside as Solo capitalised with a Spinning Book End and pinned Moss. It looks like the North American Championship will now be an exclusive to the Bloodline.

Match 4 – No. 1 Contender’s Match for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship – The Brawling Brutes defeated The New Day, Imperium and The Hit Row

If I call it a pay per view standard match, it would not be justice to define this amazing match. Let us call it a WrestleMania worthy performance. This is one of the best matches in the recent history of the weekly shows of WWE. If you have spend money to watch SmackDown this week, you have got back every Penny of yours just by watching this match.

All the four teams were really incredible. Crazy staff went on throughout the match, and the best part of it was the unpredictability. No teams were shown as underdogs. There were of course near falls. At the end, Imperium hit a Double Power Bomb on Kofi Kingston, Ridge Holland tagged himself in and pinned Kofi to earn the victory for his side. The Brawling Brutes celebrated as this week’s SmackDown went off air.

This might have been the best episode of Smackdown since Triple H took the charge. All these weeks, the blue brand of WWE felt more like a B Show of the promotion. But this week was different and they finally produced a great show. But Roman Reigns absence killed it all. This is high time for him to drop at least one Championship. Honestly he doesn’t deserve to carry both titles.

The matches of this week were fantastic, especially the fatal four way tag team match. The segments and the new build up of the storylines were also good. However, the decision of the Extreme Rules match for The Smackdown Women’s title felt a little rushed. And again, why is Logan Paul becoming the no 1 contender for the WWE Universal Championship is difficult to understand. We give it 2.5 stars out of 5.
