This week’s SmackDown started as the no. 1 contender for the Universal Championship Rey Mysterio came out to the arena. He spoke about his son Dominik who was brutally beaten by Roman Reigns last week. He said there was no confirmation of his return so far.
After that he spoke about Roman Reigns and said that he would pay inside hell in a cell for what he did. He said that he would teach him a lesson inside Hell in a Cell on the night. Rey was excellent with this promo.

The cell got lower as the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns came out to the arena. Roman said that it was nothing what he did to Dominik last week compared to what he would do to Rey inside Hell in a Cell.
Match 1 – Commander Azeez and WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews defeated Kevin Owens and Big E
This was the debut of Commander Azeez who was pretty dominant in this match. He was built in the similar way of Omos. This match was booked for around seven minutes and it was mostly dominated by the Heel side. Azeez pinned Kevin Owens to earn victory for his side. Sami Zayn was on the commentary table and he was the most entertaining part of this match.
Backstage Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn got official for Hell in a Cell pay per view event.
Match 2 – Shinsuke Nakamura defeated King Corbin
The Crown of king Corbin was on the line in this match. The match was booked for around 5 minutes and it was an average match. Nakamura pinned Corbin to get the King of the Ring Crown away from Corbin.
WWE SmackDown Women’s champion Bianca Belair came out to the arena. She said that it felt like a bully when Bayley kept laughing on her face. It should not happen to anyone. This is why she laughed on Bayley last week so that she could understand how it actually felt to Bianca. Then she challenged Bayley inside Hell in a Cell.
Bayley came out to the arena. She did not say anything and attacked Bianca. Bianca sportback easily and threw Bayley out of the ring. Bayley used Bianca’s hair to fight back and beat her down. She stood tall with the SmackDown women’s Championship.
Match 3 – Otis vs. Angelo Dawkins never started officially
Otis and Angelo Dawkins were scheduled to face each other but it could never start as Angelo Dawkins was beaten down by Otis and his tag team partner Chad Gable.
Backstage Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro got official for Hell in a Cell.
Match 4 – Hell in a Cell match – WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defeated Rey Mysterio to retain
We expected a longer match between the two since it was a hell in a cell match. But unfortunately it was booked for only around 12 minutes. It was the first ever hell in a cell match in the 22 years history of Smackdown. The match was shot but it was entertaining. Rey Mysterio kept using various items to fight. He got the early advantage after using all the items. But Roman fought back ultimately.
And once the Roman fought back he was very strong. In only 12 minutes of booking time, both individuals performed really well. At the end of the match, Roman Reigns made Rey Mysterio submit with the technical submission. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns stood tall as this week’s SmackDown went off air.
Overall, it was an entertaining week of Smackdown and it did really well to build up all the ongoing feuds except Seth rollins vs. Cesaro which faced a little weak booking. We give it 3 stars out of 5. We were expecting a longer Hell in a Cell match, instead they filled the card with unnecessary things.
