This week’s Smackdown started as footages from the last couple of weeks were shown to promote the Bloodline storyline. They showed how Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa injured Jimmy Uso and sent him to the hospital. Last week Jey Uso fought Solo and he also hit Paul Heyman during last week’s segment.
Match 1 – US Title Invitational – Rey Mysterio defeated Cameron Grimes, Sheamus, and LA Knight

WWE SmackDown 21.07.2023 Results Part 1, LA Knight In Action, Big Women’s Match Featuring Charlotte Flair
The first match of this week’s Smackdown was really well booked. It was booked for around 15 minutes and it can definitely be addressed as a PPV standard match. Austin Theory personally wanted to make sure that Rey did not win, but he could not prevent him since Santos Escobar came out to help Rey and he attacked Theory. At the end, Rey pinned Cameron Grimes with a Hurricanrana for the win.
But why LA Knight was not allowed to win this match? It would have been the perfect time to push the megastar. If you cannot push him as a main event star, at least you can push him as a solid mid card. When all the fans are looking to see him getting pushed, why did not he win today? Now it is getting pretty clear that WWE is trying to kill the craze of Knight.

Asuka Attacks Charlotte Flair
Backstage Austin Theory met Adam Pearce and guess what Pearce was doing, he was talking over a phone! Really? Is there any job available in the world where you get paid for just to have a chat over the phone? Every time we see him he is talking on phone. Can’t they be a little creative? Theory was angry with Santos Escobar and he wanted a match against him. Pearce granted him his wish.
Footage from Monday Night RAW was shown where Cody Rhodes was the in his hometown and he got attacked by Brock Lesnar. Once again Cody had to swallow a solid beat down from Brock Lesnar and ultimately a match between the duo got official for SummerSlam.

Before the start of the next match on Smackdown, they showed another footage from last week showing the drama surrounding the WWE Women’s Championship from last week where Bianca Belair challenged Asuka for the Women’s title. Ultimately it turned out to be total chaos as Charlotte Flair and Damage CTRL got involved in this match leading it to a disqualification finish. Once again, Asuka managed to escape from a cash in attempt made by Iyo Sky.
Match 2 – Charlotte Flair defeated Iyo Sky
This was also a pretty good and long match. Everything was pretty well booked in this match. However the match was a little slow but it did a good job to promote the storyline. Charlotte ultimately pinned Iyo the Natural Selection. After the match, Asuka attacked Charlotte and nailed her with the Arm Bar.
