Once again WWE did not fail to bring a good episode of Smackdown but there were some really questionable decisions that they made in this episode. The show overall was pretty good, it featured a championship match, all the title segments were well utilized here, it was a pretty entertaining show.

But the question that comes into the mind about this week’s SmackDown is, why did LA Knight lose this week on SmackDown? Everybody was waiting to see a match between Austin Theory and LA Knight for the WWE United States Championship at SummerSlam. But instead, they decided to push Santos Escobar. Are they really trying to kill the momentum of Knight?

WWE Smackdown 21.07.2023 – The Good, The Bad, And The Unforgettable: Ups & Downs Of The Show

Dominik Mysterio being a main roster star holding an NXT Championship defending the title against another main roster star was a pretty good decision according to us. The NXT North American Championship can be used as a lower mid card Championship on the main roster as well as a mid card title on the NXT. The idea is pretty good and we believe they should continue it.

The Women’s Championship segment was also pretty well booked, the match between Charlotte Flair and Iyo Sky was excellent. But the absence of Bianca Belair was a downfall for this segment. There might have been some reason behind this absence but to build up a proper feud, her appearance was really needed.

WWE Universal Championsip Match Got Booked For Summerslam

The first match of the night which was the fatal 4 way US title invitational match was the best match of the night. But once again the issue remained on Knight’s defeat. It is good to see Santos Escobar is getting a big push, but why did they choose him over the fan favourite? He is pretty young, he could be pushed anytime WWE wanted him to.

There has always been a big complain about Vince McMahon that he never cared what the fans wanted but he always made the fans of swallow what he wanted them to see. As Triple H being in charge of WWE today, is he doing the same thing? Clearly, not pushing Knight was a terrible decision so far. We still hope that they do not try to kill him momentum.

The main event segment of the night was not up to the mark. It was just another segment with the Universal championship match between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso getting confirmed for SummerSlam. The segment might not have been anything special but it was needed so we are not going to criticize it.
