This week’s Smackdown started as footage from last night’s Crown Jewel was shown where Brock Lesnar was beaten by Roman Reigns and how the match went on.
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns came out to the arena along with Paul Heyman. Roman Reigns called himself the best. He reminded everyone he has beaten so far since WrestleMania 37. He even named Daniel Bryan.

He then asked Paul what Lesnar had to say about the defeat. Paul read Lesnar’s tweet where Lesner wrote that he would beat Roman Reigns senseless when he would return to SmackDown. Roman then called out Brock Lesnar.
It took a little time but Brock Lesnar showed up. He entered the ring and attacked Reigns. Reigns tried to fight back but he failed. Lesnar nailed Reigns with the steel steps. The Usos came out to help Reigns but Lesnar beat them down too. Lesnar kept beating down everyone who tried to stop him. At the end officials had to bring some WWE stars to stop him. Reigns left by the time.
Adam Pearce was seen standing inside the ring. He suspended Brock Lesnar for his action. Lesnar came out and confronted Adam Pearce. He grabbed Pearce and told him to make the call again. As soon as he said Lesnar was suspended, Lesnar attacked him and nailed with two F5s.
Match 1 – Drew McIntyre dedeated Sami Zayn
It was an Open challenge issued by Drew McIntyre which was answered by Sami Zayn. The match was shot and only 4 minutes long but it was fun to watch. Drew pinned Sami with a Claymore.
Next up was the corronation for the new King of the Ring, Xavier Woods. Kofi Kingston arrived first and welcomed Xavier. The new king came out. Nothing special here, just the celebration.

Match 2 – Monsoor defeated Mustafa Ali
The match was very short and there was nothing much to talk about. Just the jobbing continued for Ali who lost by a cheeky school boy pin.
Match 3 – Hit Row defeated Local Jobbers
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and Top Dollar represented Hit Row in this match. Good to see unknown jobbers are being used again in the main roster to promote stars in stead of roster stars. Swerve Scott pinned one of the jobbers for the win.
Match 4 – Happy Corbin defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in a title contender match
Since WrestleMania WWE is failing miserably to book mid card championships. And these contender matches had to stop. This shows the poor quality of writers. There should be no. 1 contender matches in stead. Contender match means the person not holding the title would win, it never changes. Nothing different here.

Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch for the title exchange. Sonya Deville was the host. Nothing special during the exchange except the crowd chanted “Becky Two Belts.” Charlotte wanted a Winner Takes All match against Becky. Sasha Banks came out to the arena.
Sasha used the B word as Charlotte reminded her it was a PG show. She asked Sasha if she was feeling a left out. Becky left the ring meanwhile. Sasha and Charlotte’s argument went physical as this week’s Smackdown went off air. We were Shayna Baszler to get involved in this feud.
Overall, it was a very good show. The first encounter of the show between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar was amazing. These types of bookings are very rare to see these days. But the roster of Smackdown looks too much filled. It is impossible to book everyone in a single show unless they are booking some Battle Royal type of matches. The last segment was quite weak though. There was nothing special to be featured on the main event. Once again a Charlotte vs. Sasha feud has been booked. Don’t know how many times do we have to see that. We give it 3.5 stars out of 5.
