This week’s SmackDown started as a promo package for the title vs title match at WrestleMania 38 between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns was shown to promote it. It was quite long at the presentation was cool.
Michael Cole was standing inside the arena. He welcomed Rowdy Ronda Rousey into the ring. Ronda informed that her mother was a huge role model for her. She accomplished so many things in her career and Ronda wanted to be a similar role model for her daughter as well.

Michael Cole talked about the amazing list of accomplishments of Ronda Rousey. Ronda said that she did not want to look back at the past and she wanted to focus on her future. And at WrestleMania 38 she would want to win the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Charlotte Flair came out to the arena. She said that she would make Rhonda scream for mercy at WrestleMania 38 and she would remain the WWE SmackDown Women’s champion. Sonya Deville attacked Ronda from her back. Sonya and Charlotte teamed up and attacked Ronda’s right foot which went through seven surgeries.
Match 1 – The New Day defeated Los Lotharios
It was a fun match to watch but it is still not understood why Los Lotharios won against New Day last week. They just had to make back to back consistent bookings, that’s it. In this case it was a seven minutes long match where Big E pinned Angel for the win.
Match 2 – Xia Li defeated Natalya
This match marks The in ring debut of Xia Li on the main roster and it was a three minutes long match. It was not particularly dominated by anyone, but Xia was impressive, even though she made a couple of minor botches. At the end she pinned Natalya with the spinning wheel kick.
The new WWE Intercontinental Champion Samk Zayn came out to the arena. He was having a celebration for winning the Intercontinental title for the third time in his career before he was interrupted by Johnny Knoxville who challenged Samy for the title. Sami did not agree and beat him down badly.
Match 3 – Sasha Banks defeated Shotzi
Shotzi is a jobber now, the short push she had is gone. She even got a jobber entrance for this match. It was only a two minute long match where Sasha beat her easily by submission. Naomi was at the commentary table during the match who informed that she and Sasha would be the next Women’s Tag Team Champion.
Match 4 – Drew McIntyre defeated Madcap Moss
Happy Corbin was originally said to face McIntyre in this match but Corbin refused to face him and asked Madcap to take on. It was a 5 minutes long match where no particular wrestler dominated it. Drew won it with the Claymore.
The main event segment of the night was the contract signing for the title vs title match at WrestleMania 38 between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. The Bloodline came out to the arena first, Paul Heyman talked about the advantages of Roman Reigns going into the match.
Brock Lesnar came out to the arena and said he would completely destroy Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 38. During the argument, Paul Heyman talked about the unification of the titles. So it is quite clear now, there will be no more brand Split after WrestleMania 38. At the end Brock Lesnar beat down the security guards. Brock Lesnar stood tall as this week’s SmackDown went off air.
Overall there was nothing exciting about the show accept some new official and unofficial announcements. We got some new title pictures and matches for Wrestlemania. Not sure if we should be excited about them. Other than that it was just another episode of Friday Night Smackdown. We give it 2 stars out 5.
