Charlotte Flair remains on top of the SmackDown roster even after the toughest defense of her reign against Ronda Rousey. She retained her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 38 Night One to become the second-only superstar to pin the UFC Hall of Famer. The finish was controversial as well as lame where Flair got the win via a big boot only.
Fans were outraged at this way of match-ending as well as with the fact that The Queen was still clad with gold. WWE’s original plan also went with Charlotte Flair defeating Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania since they wanted to extend their feud for the time being. This is the reason that the Rousey came up short despite being the betting favorite to become the new champion.
Reason Charlotte Flair Defeated Ronda Rousey At WWE Wrestlemania 38
It has recently been announced that Charlotte Flair will be defending her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey in a rematch that’s an ‘I Quit’ match at WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022, next month.
Charlotte Flair has a bold claim about Ronda Rousey
During a conversation with Talking Smack, the champion reflected on her thoughts about her upcoming match against Ronda Rousey. She claimed that the challenger couldn’t even beat her at Candyland. Her legacy is apparently too big for Rousey to overcome,
“Well of course she wants a rematch because she she did not win. She lost, she did not make me submit. I felt the Armbar, I felt the pressure, I didn’t tap and I definitely did not lose. Not only am I the hardest worker, but I am the smartest worker. Ronda couldn’t even beat me at Candyland. I even said it earlier, Chess, still couldn’t beat me. Checkers, whatever it is. She can’t beat me, I’m Charlotte Flair.”
Ronda Rousey vowed to make Ronda Rousey tap out and she did so that didn’t necessarily hand out the championship belt. Only time will tell whether she could make Charlotte Flair say in the ‘I Quit’ match at WWE WrestleMania Backlash.
On Night One of WrestleMania 38, Ronda Rousey had Charlotte Flair beat with the armbar submission maneuver as Flair tapped out, but the referee was knocked out at that time. Rousey tried to wake him up. Flair took advantage of a distracted Rousey and hit her with a Big Boot to get the win.
Ronda then kicked off last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown after WrestleMania 38 and challenged Charlotte Flair to an “I Quit” Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania Backlash 2022. Although, Flair denied the pledge, WWE confirmed the match on social media on Saturday.
