Here was the final telecast of Tuesday Night Smackdown before WrestleMania 33. On Raw yesterday, we saw them focusing on promoting WrestleMania more than making a five-star show. For Smackdown, they also did a decent job promoting their WrestleMania feuds, but they certainly ran a better show than Raw.
There were a total of four matches on the show, a number of in ring and backstage segments, that was all on this show. It was a good show overall, and a good boost for WrestleMania too. Expectations are really high from their biggest show now.
The show started with the official contract signing between Shane McMahon and AJ Styles. Overall the whole segment was really good. They did not get physical this week. The only thing that seemed a little awkward was AJ’s reaction. Last week he was put through the announce table by Shane and AJ reacted like it was all so normal. He was not mad at Shane, nothing. Like nothing happened last week. It was a little awkward, still the overall segment was good.
About the other segments, Miz and Maryse showed the final part of the parody of the Total Bellas. It was finny as usual. Miz also acted as Daniel Bryan in this parody this week. After the footage ended, John Cena came out and delivered an amazing promo. This promo was just mind blowing. Sometimes it was a little strong for a PG show, but we can bet everyone enjoyed it.
There was another promo after the main event match between Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. The promo was cut by Randy Orton. It was a really cool promo, these are the segments that are needed in Bray Wyatt’s feuds. The promo was a little scary too, we have got to say, the final build-up for this match was really good.
Now let us come towards the matches, we had four matches this week, one of them being restarted including two more competitors along with the other two from the previous match. Becky Lynch and Carmella started to compete in a one on one match, as Alexa Bliss and Mickie James interfered, it became a tag team contest. Carmella picked up the roll up pin victory over Becky Lynch.
Naomi returned after the match and officially entered her name into the Smackdown Women’s championship match at WrestleMania. This segment overall was really good. This is possibly the longest booking for women in Smackdown, all the women that were involved did a decent part in this segment. We give them full marks for their efforts.
There was a ten man tag team match including some of the jobbers from Andre the Giant battle royal. The match was booked to promote the battle royal. It was an average match, but you will not get bored with it.
Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper fought for the first time. Now this was a cool match. Unfortunate that it was only booked for ten minutes, they could deliver a way better performance if it was booked for a little longer. Great way to end the show and the close the doors before WrestleMania.
Final Verdict – It was a good show overall. They promoted all the feuds pretty well. But they did not book Dean Ambrose or Baron Corbin on the main show, which was a poor piece of booking we must say. Come on man it was the final show before WrestleMania and you would not promote the Intercontinental championship? They was seen in the Talking Smack and both of them did well in this small segment. About the other build ups, it was all okay. We are expecting the best out of WrestleMania 33.
