Following a three-year-long hiatus from the WWE, Ronda Rousey returned to WWE TV and she’s been a regular feature since then. Her comeback started with a massive 2022 Royal Rumble match win that led her to compete in one of the marquee matches of Wrestlemania 38. It was clear that WWE didn’t want to waste any whatsoever time putting her back on the top spot.

Before coming to the WWE, Ronda Rousey made her name in UFC and achieved some great accolades that made her an icon in the history of combat sports. Thus she appears to be a great example of a transition from MMA to professional wrestling. But will there be any instance where she would go back to fight inside the octagon, again?

Recently a UFC Champion called her out for a fight. It was Julianna Peña who spoke with Sports Illustrated and made it clear that she wants to fight Ronda Rousey to solidify her legacy. Not only Rousey was the first female to sign with UFC but she was also the promotion’s first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion with an undefeated streak. Plus, she is also the only UFC Hall of Famer, to date.

Pena interested in fighting Ronda Rousey

“That has always been a fight that interests me,” Peña said about possibly fighting Ronda Rousey. “When Dana White allowed women into the UFC, he just handed Ronda a belt. She didn’t have to compete, she didn’t have to do anything. He just said, ‘Hey, welcome to this promotion, here’s this shiny belt.’ After he gave her the belt, she had to fight Liz Carmouche. At that point, I’m on The Ultimate Fighter. I wasn’t fighting one person, I had to fight four people. When I came out as the winner, I was ready to face Ronda.”

As for Ronda Rousey, she had her final MMA fight on December 30, 2016, where she lost to Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207. Then at UFC 269 on December 11, 2021, Peña ended Amanda’s dominant run by submitting her for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship.
