Since the Superstar shakeup, we heard from the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ twice only. The former two times WWE United States champion Rusev with her real life wife Lana were two of the fourteen wrestlers who were traded from Raw to Smackdown along.
They both got traded to Smackdown two weeks after WrestleMania. But they never appeared on the show till now. Lana’s new gimmick is being teased every week and it is said that she will make her Smackdown debut soon.
But why is Rusev missing out on the action? As we all know he picked up a serious injury at Payback. He had his last match at the mentioned event against the Big Show. In that match, he was not only beaten by Big Show but demolished and humiliated at the hands of the World’s largest athlete.
Later, we got to know that it was more of a punishment because having a haircut without letting anyone know. Since then we never get to see anything of Rusev because of his injury. He missed out on WrestleMania for the same reason too.
On the superstar shakeup, he changed his brand. Now he is a part of Tuesday night Smackdown. Rumours vastly suggested that Rusev will be given the main event push straight as soon as he returns to action. It is also said that the push that Jinder Mahal is receiving right now was actually planned for Rusev.
Two weeks ago, a pre-taped promo from Rusev was shown where he demanded a title shot at Money in the Bank. He threatened to leave WWE if he did not get what he wanted. It was pretty clear that they are planning a main event scenario for the Bulgarian Brute.
This week on Smackdown, another pre-taped promo from Rusev was shown where he condemned Shane McMahon for not responding to him. He said that he will be on Smackdown next week.
That’s right, Rusev will officially make his Smackdown debut next week. But he might not be in action because of his injury. This storyline will be very interesting to watch once he enters the main frame.
