Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali had been in the headlines in India as he joined the farmers’ protests. He was seen with the farmers at the Tikri border while raising their agenda of withdrawing the farmers’ bill passed by the Central Government of India, according to MensXP.com and other Indian media outlets.
These kinds of protests are being conducted throughout various parts of India against agriculture reforms called the “black” farm laws. The Great Khali, a role model in the country, encouraged the people of India to support farmers in the country. Farmers have been gathering against farm bills at various locations around Delhi and receiving support from citizens and some celebrities. Talks between the government and farmers are yet to happen.

The Great Khali also took to his Instagram account and posted a few videos of himself participating in the protest. In one of such videos, he explained how the farmers will be dealing with the ultimate loss if the bill remains intact. He appealed to the government to roll back the legislation. He also declared that the farmers won’t return back until they get their demands and they were given at least 6 months’ worth of rations.

Since joining the protest, The Great Khali did receive a ton of attention from the media. Even social media was seen trending with his appearance with the farmers. One supporter commented that the internationally known wrestler’s involvement is bad news for the Minister of Home Affairs in India, Amit Shah.
In the professional wrestling world, The Great Khali is no more in touch with the USA circuit in recent times. He left WWE in 2014 after his contract expired. Before that, he used to be known as the first Indian to win the World Heavyweight Championship in WWE history. He also had notable feuds with the greats of this business like The Undertaker, Kane, or John Cena.
He returned in 2017 for a few brief appearances to support then then-WWE Champion Jinder Mahal who is also billed from India. He also appeared in the Greatest Royal Rumble Match in April 2018 from Saudi Arabia that was his final WWE TV appearance. The Great Khali opened Continental Wrestling Entertainment school in 2015 after leaving WWE, and he continues to run that academy.
