Bill Goldberg vs. WWE Champion Bobby Lashley matchup for the WWE Title has been made official for WWE SummerSlam 2021. The match was hinted at as a co-main-event of the PPV ever since the Hall of Famer resurfaced on Raw to confront the reigning champion and issue a challenge with his pendant remark, “You’re Next!” But that challenge was rejected.
As seen on Raw as well as on social media, Lashley denied sharing the ring with the legendary performer at WWE SummerSlam 2021. Goldberg then returned on this week’s Raw to confront Lashley in the ring before MVP blasted him with a promo. He had problems with Goldberg randomly coming out and challenging for championships for the past couple of years.

Goldberg then faced Bobby Lashley, taunting him in his face, and once again declaring that Lashley would be next at WWE SummerSlam 2021. After this brief confrontation, Goldberg headed to the back while MVP and Lashley were still at ringside. MVP then taunted Goldberg’s son at ringside mentioning that Lashley will end Goldberg’s career when they meet in the ring, next.
Bobby Lashley then returned to the ring to show off the WWE Title as MVP continued to talking trash to Goldberg’s son. Goldberg, again came out and leveled MVP at ringside with a huge Spear to end the segment.
Lashley later responded in a backstage segment as he accepted Goldberg’s challenge saying that he hopes Goldberg brings his son to SummerSlam so that he can watch him get annihilated. As the All-Mighty Champion seemingly accepted the challenge, Raw commentators confirmed that Lashley vs. Goldberg will indeed be taking place at WWE SummerSlam 2021.
This will mark the obligated second WWE match for Goldberg in a calendar year. Back in January, he challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship which ended in a losing effort. The former WCW franchise player is thus getting another shot at the most prestigious title at the upcoming PPV.
