Summerslam is coming early this year in WWE premium live event calendar. It will take place by the end of July instead of the original slot of mid or later August. WWE wanted to have gaps in between the three straight stadium shows in the calendar and that’s the reported reason why the biggest event of the summer has been preponed.
Given that Summerslam is the second biggest PLE of the year, all the top superstars will be in action on that night. The current absentees like Roman Reigns and John Cena are returning to WWE programming in time for Money in the Bank on July 2 and the speculations are that both these two names will be available for the second PLE scheduled in that month.

Apart from that, regular top names like Becky Lynch will be in action at Summerslam, too. She got a title match opportunity at Hell in a Cell but Bianca Belair defeated her at her own game, showing her true presence of mind. Belair capitalized after pushing Becky out of the ring and literally stealing the pin-fall count from Becky. Lynch had been doing the same to Bianca during the entire bout but the strategy backfired.

A rematch being planned for WWE Summerslam 2022?
Apparently, this could be an indication that a rematch between these two is in store for Summerslam 2022. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about what WWE has planned for big Time Becks around the summer. WWE didn’t want to use the big singles rematch match with Belair at Hell in a Cell. Instead, they’re likely saving it for the much larger stadium show on July 30.
“I would figure that’s SummerSlam [Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair]. It was very clear that they were holding that match off for a while. I don’t think they’re going to wait for Mania because they don’t have the depth, probably, to wait till Mania. But, I figure they’ll wait to SummerSlam for that and that’s why they didn’t do it here.”
Becky Lynch was outsmarted by Bianca Belair at Hell in a Cell but she did not take the pinfall loss and hence remained protected. She is also keeping her storyline frustration, intact, for the time being. Besides, Lynch never got the rematch in a one-on-one capacity after dropping the title to Belair at Wrestlemania 38. So, planning the match for Summerslam makes all the sense.
