At Money in the Bank 2022, Liv Morgan defeated Becky Lynch, Asuka, Lacey Evans, Shotzi, Raquel Rodriguez, and Alexa Bliss to become Ms. Money in the Bank in the opening ladder match of the night. This allowed her to earn a title match contract that she could exercise for either Raw/Smackdown Women’s Title.
Later on, in the show, Ronda Rousey made Natalya tap out to retain her SmackDown Women’s Championship. In a kayfabe manner, Rousey hurt her knee during this match, which led Liv Morgan to run out to the ring and exercise the Women’s Money In The Bank contract for a championship match, right in that scene. Eventually, Rousey was pinned to hand over the title to the former Riott Squad member.
Ronda Rousey Herself Wanted To Drop Title To Liv Morgan At WWE Money In The Bank 2022
While a major portion of the WWE Universe is drooling over the fact that WWE finally pulled the trigger on Liv Morgan, Wrestling Observer has already sent a warning that this title win for the emerging superstar may not last long. The current plan will see her defend the title against Rousey at SummerSlam and that could very well mark the end of her reign.
Liv Morgan could drop her title to Charlotte Flair
But in case Rousey dethrones Liv Morgan from the title reign, WWE fans may turn on her. Since WWE sees Rousey as the top babyface figure on Smackdown, they might take another route if they intend to crown another new champion in the near future.
Bryan Alvarez of WON noted that if the plan is to take the title off Liv Morgan at SummerSlam then WWE surely won’t want to turn Ronda Rousey heel. In that case, the returning Charlotte Flair will enter the scene and digest the heel heat by becoming the champion for a record fourteenth time.
Dave Meltzer stated the following in response to Bryan’s proposal, “the smart thing for me is for Charlotte Flair to beat her if that’s the way they wanna go, because that will get that heat, you know they’ll hate Charlotte Flair for it, and then Ronda will chase Charlotte Flair for it.” (courtesy Ringside News)
We will have to wait and see how Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey feud would be booked on Smackdown in the coming weeks. Fans would be happy to see a fresh champion flourishing on the blue brand but WWE may not have any long-term plans for her, as of this writing.
