WWE Summerslam Results: Seth Rollins Defeats Brock Lesnar To Win Universal Title

Summerslam 2019 had the most perfect ending as the prime babyface player of WWE Raw received the championship back around his shoulder. Brock Lesnar was clearly the favorite heading into his title defense on the show as his opponent still has tapes around his mid-ribs. But Seth Rollins had the early attack by dodging a German Suplex and landing a Stomp. Lesnar kicked out at referee’s two-count and targeted the injured body of the challenger.

Brock Lesnar continued hammering away at the mid-section as the fight continued at the ringside area. Seth Rollins put him on the top of the commentary table after a couple of Suicidal Dives and plant him with a Frog Splash. Another splash followed inside the ring setting Lesnar up for another Stomp. Rollins successfully hit it to pin the beast and become the Beast-slayer, again. He celebrated with the title to close the Summerslam PPV.

Seth Rollins was up for an uneven battle against Brock Lesnar from the get-go of this Summerslam storyline for the Universal Championship. The champion was always on top with Paul Heyman’s cunning words working on behalf of him. Plus, Rollins also became self-destructive in recent times creating a bad situation. First of all, the challenger had to earn his way to the championship defying all the odds, (courtesy wwe.com)

“The Architect faced an uphill battle to get another crack at The Beast since there is no longer an automatic rematch clause when a titleholder loses the gold. Accordingly, the best of the best in WWE descended on Raw the night after Extreme Rules to compete in a “Cross Branded All-Star Top 10 Battle Royal” for the opportunity to stand toe-to-toe with The Beast at The Biggest Event of the summer. The combatants included Rollins, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Big E, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley, and Cesaro.”

But the win did not keep Seth Rollins away from the Champion as the latter one willingly delivered a beatdown. It was a reckless all-out attack on Raw that left the challenger in a pile of blood. Plus, last week, Seth Rollins volunteered walking into another beatdown raising question whether he will be even able to compete at Summerslam. But he proved all the doubters wrong by overcoming all odds and winning back the Universal Championship.
