WWE Super Showdown: Seth Rollins Sought Payback On Brock Lesnar After Title Match Win

The Universal Championship opened the second edition of WWE Super ShowDown surprising a lot of the fans. It was a back and forth encounter as the challenger, Baron Corbin took advantage of the taped ribs of the champion, Seth Rollins. Brock Lesnar hurt him badly on this week’s WWE Raw. Corbin countered a Stomp from Rollins to an End of Days for a near fall. He wanted to bring a chair to the ring but the referee prevented him from doing so. This creates a distraction as Seth Rollins rolled him up for the victory.

Corbin was irate about what just went down and he delivered an End of Days on the champion after the match. Brock Lesnar’s music hit the arena, thereafter as he ran out with the MITB briefcase and a chair in hand. But Seth Rollins hit him with a low blow right after he entered the ring. He unloaded the chair on Lesnar’s back to leave him with a black elbow. He finished the attack with a Stomp on the head of the beast through the MITB briefcase. So for now, the championship contract remains in the pride possession of the MITB winner.

Anticipation was much bigger for Money in the Bank cash-in of Brock Lesnar rather than the title match at WWE Super ShowDown. The Beast Incarnate almost jeopardized the Universal title match by going after Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw. He delivered a beatdown that forced the champion to leave the building in an ambulance. However, Rollins, being a fighting champion updated that he will be competing at Super ShowDown. But a hint of Lesnar lurking in was always there as per statements from WWE.com,

“At WWE Super ShowDown, Seth Rollins will take on Baron Corbin in a Universal Championship showdown as part of an event that will be equivalent to or exceed WrestleMania. With it still uncertain as to when Brock Lesnar will cash in his coveted Money in the Bank contract on Rollins, Corbin outlasted Braun Strowman, The Miz and Bobby Lashley in a Fatal 4-Way Match to earn the right to challenge The Architect in Jeddah.”

Meanwhile, speculations were wild regarding the role of Brock Lesnar at Super ShowDown. The Saudi Arabia authority paid a huge amount of money to bring the biggest box office attraction to their country. But WWE failed to book him in a match for the show. So he was present on the PPV to cash-in either on Seth Rollins or Kofi Kingston. But the impactful resistance from the reigning Universal title-holder forced him to leave Super ShowDown in empty hands.
