Ronda Rousey is the biggest mainstream attraction that WWE can possibly have on their television to attract the audience. She is an icon when it comes to combat sports but then she’d make her way from the world of combat sports to professional wrestling and literally excel the moves. She had to adjust to WWE’s way of wrestling since debuting at the 2018 Royal Rumble.

WWE presented her as a prime babyface player which was obvious. But one of the major turning points in Ronda Rousey’s WWE career was the 2018 Survivor Series pay-per-view event, where she squared off against Charlotte Flair for the first time in her career. That was also the first time that the fans turned on the sports icon and she was legitimately hurt by that reaction from the audience.

Ronda Rousey finds it hard to separate reel and real life

The distinction between real-life and kayfabe perspectives of WWE angles turned out to be hard for Ronda Rousey. She went on record about not being able to properly deal with fan reactions. This also affected her promo skills which have not improved, at all over the years. While speaking on her vlog series Ronda on the Road, Ronda Rousey admitted that she feels more nervous about cutting promos in the ring rather than competing in matches.

“I get more nervous for promos than matches because I have to nail it on the first go. I’ve always been a person that communicates better physically than verbally, but I think I got it. They let me say what I want to say, then I got it.” (Quotes courtesy Wrestling Inc)

The bad taste in mouth due to negative reactions from the fans during her first stint made a huge impact on Ronda Rousey as she held a grudge among them upon her Rumble return, earlier this year. Vince McMahon had to step in and help the former UFC Bantamweight Champion to get her promo game upped in a huge way. Probably, this could help her in improving her promo skills in the future.

Ronda Rousey returned as a babyface superstar in 2022 and ended up winning the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match. This insinuated a feud with Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 38.
