Proving the earlier speculations true, Zelina Vega has returned to WWE. This week’s WWE SmackDown on FOX saw Sonya Deville bring her Vega back as the next participant from the blue brand for the 2021 Women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match. Just like Carmella, last week the returnee didn’t have to prove herself or qualify for the opportunistic ladder match.

Zelina Vega played the role of a heel by cutting a promo on the mic about how she will win the MITB briefcase and then cash in to become either the WWE NXT, RAW or, SmackDown Women’s Champion in the future and thereby fulfill her destiny. She was then interrupted by Liv Morgan, who was still upset for not getting a spot at Money In the Bank Ladder Match.

Morgan pointed out how she defeated Carmella, last week. Then she ended up having words with Zelina Vega and slapped her. Morgan wanted to compete in a match and Sonya Deville granted it as she wanted Morgan to prove her potential, once again.

The match was short where the referee caught Zelina Vega trying to roll Morgan up with a handful of tights. Morgan took advantage of the distraction as she used a handful of tights to roll up her opponent for the pin to win. Vega wasn’t happy about the loss who tried to go after Morgan, once the match was over but the referee held her back. It appeared that Morgan is yet to qualify for the MITB Ladder Match.

Zelina Vega was released from WWE in 2020

Zelina Vega had been released from the WWE in late 2020 after breaching a third-party edict issued by Vince McMahon to the superstars. It was recently reported that the company was bringing her back. The news was interesting as it resurfaced a few weeks before her husband, Aleister Black, was released on June 2 as a part of the COVID-19 budget cuts.

Prior to SmackDown, Fightful Select reported that the plan was for Zelina Vega to return to the main roster, as of three weeks ago. She was listed on internal documents at one point in June as a heel on the SmackDown women’s division roster. It appeared that WWE executed the same planning, as per the reports.

Since after the WWE release, Zelina Vega has focused on acting and video game streaming since leaving WWE who didn’t work with any other wrestling promotions. She was rumored to join AEW at one point, but that didn’t come out to be true. Now, she is back on the blue brand of the WWE to make an impression.
