Earlier this year, WWE has released one of the much-anticipated movies they have ever made in the form of the autobiography featuring WWE Superstar Paige’s life.
Being one of the locker room members who had a colorful life, WWE thought the right away would to present an up-close look to her life. One of the important characters in this movie was about Paige’s on-screen friend cum-foe AJ Lee.
In case you don’t know, current WWE star Zelina Vega was the one to portray the role of AJ Lee during that movie. She recently spoke with the Cheap Heat Podcast, to recall how the experience was to play Lee. She also noted whether she ever thought of becoming a part of the WWE roster.
Zelina Vega reacted in a positive way getting the opportunity to act in such a big project from the wrestling fraternity. She remembered the movie filming at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California which appeared to be a huge experience for her,
“At one point when we recorded Fighting with My Family at the Staples Center it was an incredible feeling and I loved it but I was playing AJ Lee and I wanted it to be me.
I was grateful for the opportunity. If that was all I was going to ever do with the WWE I was incredibly happy to do but deep down inside I knew I had to keep fighting to do this.”
The business manager of Andrade also remarked on her own pro-wrestling career. She had always been fond of performing inside the squared circle.
She also dreamt of attending shows like WrestleMania or in an event at the Madison Square Garden arena. All of those have come true after signing with the WWE,
“It’s pretty wild to say that I wanted this since I was a kid and to be in this spot here. We did WrestleMania, even Madison Square Garden, seeing the exact spot where I sat with my parents and with my brother it’s been wild for me.”
Zelina Vega also disclosed the fact that it was The Rock who have the big breaking news to her. She received a call from The Great One who informed that not only she is doing a role in Fighting with My Family but also play the key role of AJ Lee,
“When he told me that I was going to be playing the Divas Champion, of course, I wasn’t processing any of this yet, and then he said, AJ Lee. I was like, oh my God, I can do this.
I know I can do this. But you never really know until you step into that person’s shoes. He really showed me how to separate Thea Trinidad and step into AJ Lee.” (courtesy wrestlingINC.com)
