The year 2016 has started on a good note for India. Rohit Sharma carried his bat in the first ODI of the five-match Australia series in Perth. He scored a magnificent 171 from 163 balls. His innings helped India to post 309 for 3 on board. India got a good start from opener Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. Josh Hazlewood took the wicket of Dhawan in the 7th over. But, Dhawan’s departure did not affect India’s innings as Rohit and Virat went on to build a record-breaking innings.

Kohli missed his hundred by nine runs as he was caught by Aaron Finch off James Faulkner. Later captain  Dhoni came in the crease and scored 18 with one six and one fours.

4) Rohit has become fastest batsman to score 1000 runs against Australia. He breaks Sachin Tendulkar and Briann Lara’s record.

5) Rohit’s 171 not out is the second highest score at WACA after David Warner’s 178 against Afghanistan. And highest by an overseas batsman after Vivian Richard’s 153 not out in 1971.
