Arsenal want to sign a former player, but Man United firm favourite to land this Turkish youngster 1

Jose Mourinho has now set his sight on 23-year-old Turkey international Oguzhan Ozyakup.

According to a report from Spanish website Deporte Valenciano, Manchester United are keeping their tabs on this young midfielder from Besiktas who is interestingly a former Arsenal player.

And here lies the twist as the Gunners have also shown their interest in him while Valencia sees him as a potential replacement for Andre Gomes, who has completed a move to Barcelona.

Besiktas will most likely demand around £16.8m (€20m).

Ozyakup, who has won 23 caps for his country, is right now under contract until 2018.

However, United looks Ozyakup’s possible next stop as Besiktas president Fikret Orman has previously hinted at a move to Old Trafford for their prized asset.

He said: “When Ozyakup leaves Besiktas it will be for Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid. A club of that calibre.”

Ozyakup initially joined Arsenal’s academy from AZ in 2008 and made his Gunners debut in 2011 in a League Cup clash but couldn’t able to make a single appearance in the Premier League.

Ozyakup left north London for Bestikas in 2012 for just £350,000 and has established himself quite well in the Turkish SuperLig.

The talented playmaker has excelled quite exceptionally in the SuperLig. Ozyakup, being a former Arsenal academy starlet, roams forward from the centre and gets himself into good positions by taking advantage of spaces between the lines.

He’ll play quickly and simply when needed, dribble when it suits him and will shoot on sight, making him a threat in all situations.
