Chahal admitted the fact that Dhoni has played a crucial role in grooming the young blood. He added Dhoni’s suggestion helps him as a bowler to stem the run flow.
“As a bowler, sometimes you have a tough day and sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you get hit for sixes. It happens to me as well. But his (Dhoni) advice at that moment helps in those situations. It helps in controlling the flow of runs and getting a breakthrough,” Chahal told ToI.
While speaking about Dhoni’s leadership, Chahal reiterated the veteran is a senior cricketer within a team. According to Chahal, Dhoni has lent a helping hand to youngsters, including him as a bowler.
“He (Dhoni) is a senior member of the team. As I said, not just me, he is always there to guide and help all the youngsters. Sometimes, he gets angry with us. But it’s for our own improvement,” ToI quoted Chahal as saying.

Moreover, Chahal, who made his white-ball debut when Dhoni led India, has witnessed Dhoni as an all-in-one. He remarked that Dhoni knows each and everything.
“Ball kidhar daalna hai (where to bowl), Mahi bhai knows. He is a mix of a bowler, wicket-keeper, batsman and a fielder,” Chahal added.
