This week’s Smackdown was the final episode before 32nd annual Summerslam set from Toronto on this Sunday Night. We witnessed a decent show where Roman Reigns knew his alleged attacker’s name. Charlotte Flair confronted Trish Stratus before their dream match. Also, Daniel Bryan returned to action in the tag team main event match that was a brainchild of Vince McMahon. The Boss started to finalize the matchups despite there’s a new executive director on board.

Reason Why Kane Is Returning To Competition, Again

Trish Stratus Had A Summerslam Message For Charlotte Flair

Eric Bischoff is the new show-runner for Smackdown Live as revealed by WWE, earlier. He will be the new executive director to look after the creative part of the show from now onwards. Similarly, Paul Heyman will be in charge of Monday Night Raw. But if the recent reports are any indications that Vince McMahon still has the last word on what would go on air on TV, each week.

So The Boss made big changes on Smackdown script for three consecutive weeks. At first, the plan for the Detroit edition of the show was to host a one-on-one contest between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer newsletter noted the same in his report claiming Vince McMahon changed the match.

Shane McMahon Attacked Kevin Owens On Smackdown

He continued saying that Vince McMahon tore up the original script for last night’s Summerslam go-home edition of Smackdown. He canceled the main event just two hours prior to the show and decided to go with a new lineup which is Daniel Bryan and Rowan vs. Xavier Woods and WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. However, in reality, Kofi Kingston was not present on the show as Xavier Woods competed replacing him. The finishing of the match turned out to be a no-contest as Rowan attacked Woods with steel steps. Afterward, we learned that Bryan is the alleged attacker of Roman Reigns as the show came to an end.

Although it was a good main event match, Vince McMahon making regular changes to Smackdown script may not go well with Eric Bischoff. Previously, WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg faced a similar issue while running the creative part of the blue brand. He walked away from his position since The Boss would alter the script every now and then. We will learn if the tradition would continue creating problems for the WWE officials.
