India U19 won the youth ODI tri-series in England after beating Bangladesh U19 in the final of the tournament on Sunday (11th August).

In the final, second-positioned India U19 faced the table-topper Bangladesh U19. After the league stage game, Bangladesh U19 earned 11 points (four victories, one defeat, one tie and two no results) while India U19 achieved eight points (three victories, three defeats and two no results) and the hosts England U19 finished in the last position with three points (two victories, five defeats and one tie).

In the final, Bangladesh U19 captain Akbar Ali decided to bat first after winning the toss. The no.3 batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s century (109) and the opener Parvez Hossain Emon’s 60 runs helped Bangladesh to score 261 runs (50 overs) before getting all out. Joy scored 109 runs off 134 balls with the help of nine fours and only six.
From the no.4 position, only the no.7 batsman Shamim Hossain (32 runs) reached the double-digit mark along with the other opener Tanzid Hasan (26 runs).
Among the Indian lads, right-arm pacer Kartik Tyagi (2/49) and left-arm pacer Sushant Mishra (2/33) managed to claim two wickets.
India U19 chased that target in 48.4 overs after losing four wickets
Chasing down that challenging target, four Indian youngsters scored half-centuries in that innings. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 runs) and Divyaansh Saxena (55 runs) had a 104-run partnership.
Later, the captain Priyam Garg and the wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel scored 50+ runs. They had a crucial 109 runs partnership for the fourth wicket which helped them to chase that target comfortably. While the skipper Garg scored 73 runs off 66 balls, Jurel remained not out on 59 runs off 73 balls.

India U19 side chased down that target in 48.4 overs after losing four wickets. They won this match by six wickets with eight balls remaining.
Among the Bangladesh lads, only the left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan (2/55) managed to pick up more than one wicket.
In September, India U19 will play the Youth Asia Cup 2019 in Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel will lead this Indian youth side. Meanwhile, the recent captain Priyam Garg hasn’t been selected for the upcoming Youth Asia Cup.
