It is the battles within the battle that excites us and Steven Smith vs Jofra Archer was a blockbuster in the second Lord’s Test match. Australia’s former skipper Steven Smith is ready to once again face England’s gun fast bowler Jofra Archer. Smith was knockdown by Archer in the second Test match at Lord’s and was then ruled out of the third Test match due to concussion. However, Smith stated that Archer is yet to get him out, which matters the most in any format of the game.

Meanwhile, Smith also shared that the first thought when he got hit on the neck was of Phillip Hughes, who had died after taking a blow in Sheffield Shield. On the other hand, Smith will be the cynosure of all eyes when tourists will play against Derbyshire in the three-day warm-up match from 29th August.

Smith recalled Phillip Hughes after getting taking the blow.

“I had a few things running through my mind, particularly where I got hit,” Smith told reporters.

“Like a bit of the past sort of came up, if you know what I mean, from a few years ago. That was probably the first thing I thought about.

“Then I thought, ‘I’m actually OK here’. I was a bit sad, but I was alright mentally for the rest of that afternoon.”

Smith squashes the talks that Archer has the wood on him after hitting him twice in the second Test match. The talismanic batsman stated that he is not going to change anything and will play his natural game in the fourth Test match against Archer.

“No, I’m not really going to change anything. There’s been a bit of talk that he’s got the wood over me but he hasn’t got me out,” said Smith of England’s tearaway paceman.

“He hit me on the head on a wicket that was a bit up and down at Lord’s.

“All the other bowlers have had more success against me, I dare say. I’ve faced them a bit more but they’ve all got me out a lot more, so, yeah, pretty comfortable about that.”

Smith is going to be Australia’s trump card as the right-hander has scored 378 runs in only three innings of the Ashes at an average of 126. Australia had dearly missed the services of Smith in the third Test match and the right-hander will like to make a solid comeback.
