The 18-year-old Priyam Garg suffered a painful neck injury on the fourth and final day of the Duleep Trophy 2019 game between India Green and India Red. Even, an ambulance had to come on the field to take the youngster to the hospital.

That incident happened on Sunday (1st September) at KSCA Cricket Ground (Alur, Bengaluru). India Green cricketer Priyam Garg was fielding at the silly point when that incident happened. During the 138th over of India Red’s first innings, when the leg-spinner Rahul Chahar was bowling to Avesh Khan, Khan’s shot hit on Garg’s neck.

Though Garg was wearing a helmet with a neck guard at that moment, he faced a painful injury. However, he was totally conscious. The physio soon came on the field and applied the ice-pack on his injured position.

Later, an ambulance came on the field by which Garg was taken to the hospital for some crucial precautionary tests.

Priyam Garg recently led the India U19 side in England tri-series

Under Garg’s captaincy, recently the India U19 won the tri-nation 50-over tournament in England. In the final of that tournament, India U19 beat Bangladesh U19 by six wickets. Garg played a match-winning knock of 73 runs in that final. In that entire tournament, Garg was the fifth most run-scorer as he scored 289 runs in six innings with an average of 57.80. He hit one century and two half-centuries in that innings.

India Red vs India Green had a draw result

In the first innings of this match, Garg scored 53 runs. Also, Akshath Reddy’s 146 runs and Siddhesh Lad‘s 64 runs helped India Green to manage 440 runs in the first innings.

In reply, India Red scored 441 runs before getting all-out and they earned just one-run lead. Mahipal Lomror scored 126 runs and Karun Nair scored 90 runs. Also, in the lower-order, Avesh Khan added 64 runs.

In their second innings, India Green was batting on 98/3 before the end of the game.

After this result, India Green and India Red will meet in the final of this tournament from 4th September.
