India U19 has started their journey in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2019 with a comfortable victory in the rain-interrupted game against Kuwait U19.
On Thursday (5th September), India U19 started their campaign in the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2019. In their first game of this tournament, they faced Kuwait U19 in the Group A match. Due to the rain-interruption, the start was delayed. Finally, it became a 23-over contest for each side where the India U19 captain Dhruv Jurel decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

In the rain-interrupted game, India U19 beat Kuwait U19 by seven wickets
Kuwait got a very good start as their openers Meet Bhavsar and Gokul Kumar provided a 54-run partnership. However, they were not too fast and later they failed to handle that situation. The India U19 bowlers dominated at late as Kuwait lads managed 110/7 in 23 overs. Apart from both the openers, Bhavsar (28) and Gokul (25), only Jandu Hamoud (10) and Abdul Rehman (10) managed to reach the two-digit scores in that innings.
Among the Indian lads, the left-arm pacer Akash Singh (3/22) and right-arm pacer Purnank Tyagi (3/28) bagged three wickets each. Meanwhile, the right-arm medium bowler Vidyadhar Patil (1/17) managed one wicket in that innings.

In reply, India U19 chased down that target in 19.1 overs after losing three wickets. The defending champions India U19 won this match by seven wickets with 23 balls remaining. During that chase, the right-handed opener Arjun Azad was the hero for the defending champions. Azad remained not out on 60 runs off 58 balls (five fours and two sixes).
Afghanistan U19 claimed a large victory against Pakistan U19
On the same day, Afghanistan U19 started their journey in this tournament with a big victory against Pakistan U19.

Apart from India U19 and Kuwait U19, Pakistan and Afghanistan lads are also in the Group A. Due to the rain-interruption, that game also faced the delayed start but it became the 47-over game for each side. Later, during the middle of the first innings, another rain-interruption forced to cut another one over from each side as finally, it became a 46-over contest for each side.
After losing the toss, Afghanistan U19 scored 162/9 in 46 overs. According to the revised target by DLS method, Pakistan U19 had to chase 164 runs in 46 overs. Only the opener Sediqullah Atal (29) and the no.3 batsman Rahmanullah (27) reached the 20-run marks.

However, Pakistan U19 were all out on just 78 runs as Afghanistan U19 won that match by 85 runs (DLS method). Only two Pakistan lads reached the double-digit scores at chasing – captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir (16) and Irfan Khan (19).
