ToggleComeback man Ambati Rayudu has been appointed as Hyderabad’s captain for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019/20. During World Cup 2019, Rayudu announced his retirement from all forms of the game after not being called up to England even as team India needed two replacements.

However, he made a u-turn and made himself available for selection, which also means that he can make an India comeback should he do well at the domestic level. As per Rayudu, former India cricketers VVS Laxman and Noel David convinced him, who later wrote to Hyderabad Cricket Association announcing that he is available for selection.
Rayudu was a strong contender to be part of the World Cup squad as team India’s no. 4 batsman. However, he was pipped by Vijay Shankar for a place in the squad.

He vented out his frustration with a ‘3-D’ tweet, that might have also played a part in him being ignored during the World Cup when India needed two replacement players.
It remains to be seen if Rayudu can make his national comeback soon.
Apart from him, Mohammed Siraj is another international player in the squad. He will be available for the complete List A tournament as there are no matches planned for India A during that period.
Siraj recently played for India A in the first unofficial Test against South Africa A. He is also a part of the second unofficial Test match.
