India’s new Test opener Mayank Agarwal finally ended his wait to registering his maiden Test century. On Thursday (3rd October) morning, during the second day of the Visakhapatnam Test against South Africa, the 28-year-old scored his maiden Test century.
The new opening partners Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma dominated the rain-interrupted day one of this Test match. On Wednesday (2nd October) morning, Indian captain Virat Kohli decided to bat first after winning the toss. From the very early morning, the hosts’ openers dominated over the South African bowlers.
Both the openers batted impressively on the day one. Before the rain-interruption forced for an early finish, India were batting on 202/0. Rohit Sharma, who is playing as a Test opener for the first time, remained not out on 115 runs. Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal was batting on 84 runs before the day was called off.

Mayank Agarwal completed his century in 204 balls
On the day two morning, both the openers have carried the same attitude. In the first half-an-hour of the day, Mayank reached the three figures score. The right-handed batsman completed his maiden Test century in 204 balls. He hit 13 fours and two sixes to secure this incredible century.

It is the first Test innings in India for Mayank Agarwal. He has made this occasion very memorable with his maiden Test century.
Before this Test match, Mayank played four Tests, all outside the home country. He made Test debut in last December during the Melbourne Test against Australia. Ahead of this Test match, Mayank scored 275 runs in seven Test innings with an average of 39.28. The right-handed opening batsman hit three half-centuries in this period, including the best knock of 77 runs.
