Team India’s bright young prospect Shivam Dube made early impressions with his good all-round abilities when he was given a chance to play for the national cricket team last year.

However, as the games progressed, he neither showcased his mettle with the bat nor with the ball and gradually lost his sheen.

Dube failed to perform consistently and did not unleash his true potential so far. He has a paltry batting average of just 17 in 13 T20Is so far.

Nonetheless, the young man has still got plenty of time to make an impact on the field so much so that he can prove to be a real case for himself as a viable all-rounder in the times to come.

The young all-rounder had recently opened up on particular aspects of his game in a recent interview.

It is to be noted that Shivam Dube made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in the year 2019 when all-rounder Hardik Pandya was out of the national team setup due to an injury.

Not here to replace Hardik Pandya: Shivam Dube

With Hardik Pandya fit as a fiddle and making a return to the national side after a long time now, it seems clear that the doors are closing for Shivam Dube.

Shivam Dube has made it very clear that he is not here to replace Hardik Pandya where his only ambition is to perform well and win games for India.

“Whenever I am reminded that you are here to replace Hardik Pandya, I have said, ‘No, I am not here to replace Hardik Pandya, I am here to perform well and win matches for India.’ Obviously Hardik is a senior and a crucial player, so whenever he is fit, he is going to walk into the team,” Dube added.

Despite his string of failures, Shivam Dube can still take pride in the fact that he scored a match-winning 30-ball 54 cameo against West Indies after being promoted to No. 3, which he recalled it as his favourite knock.
