Rohit Bhai Helped Me To Calm Down: Shivam Dube On Being Nervous To Bat At No.3
The allrounder Shivam Dube successfully utilised his promotion in the batting order in the Thiruvananthapuram T20I against West Indies. It would be a delightful day for Shivam Dube as he scored his maiden half-century in that game. However, the Indian team had to face a defeat against the visitors in that second match of the three-match T20I series.
Shivam Dube was promoted to no. 3 by the captain Virat Kohli after the opener KL Rahul lost his wicket early. The 26-year-old stood on the hopes of the skipper and scored 54 runs in 30 balls for the team. At the starting of that innings, he was finding difficulty to face the ball but eventually got the rhythm in his batting. The southpaw struck three sixes in the over of West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard.
Shivam Dube was calm down by Rohit Sharma
In the post-match ceremony, Shivam Dube admitted that he was nervous and under pressure to bat at No.3 but was calm down by his senior teammate. The youngster said that Rohit Sharma‘s advice helped him to play his natural game.
“I got the opportunity to bat at number three which was a big deal for me. There was some pressure.”
“Rohit bhai asked me to back my ability and helped me calm down. I got the momentum after hitting a six and then I was playing my natural game. I always back my ability to clear any ground and it is my strength,” he said.
“We will win the Series” confident Shivam Dube
The Mumbai player was disappointed with the team’s defeat but is confident that they will surely win the series against West Indies.
“The dropped chances were crucial. It is part of the game. They also dropped some. We had a good total today but we failed to grab our chances. We have a good team and back ourselves to win the series,” he said.
