As there is no confirmation on the international cricket future of MS Dhoni, there is strong speculation of his retirement. However, recently one of his close friends has clarified that Dhoni still wants to serve for India.

On 2nd April 2011, exactly nine years ago, skipper MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir played crucial roles for the team India to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. It was India’s second Cricket World Cup trophy as they won it for the first time in 1983.

The times move on, and Dhoni has evolved as a special leader. He has remained very consistent with the team, even after stepping down from the captaincy in early 2017. But after the semi-final defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (against New Zealand) in last July, Dhoni hasn’t played a cricket match yet.

Neither Dhoni nor the team India or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the future of Dhoni’s international career. Though it was sure that Dhoni would return to the cricket during the IPL 2020, his international cricket future was still unknown. In this circumstance, there are strong speculations on his retirement at least from international cricket.

However, one of his close friends, whose character also appeared in the movie “MS Dhoni, the untold story”, has recently confirmed that Dhoni is still eager to play for India. The former Indian captain still feels that he is the fittest player as well as the quickest wicket-keeper of the national team.

The friend told ABP News, “Mahi gets angry when we ask him questions on his retirement. He still feels he is the fittest of all and quickest wicket-keeper in India.”

That friend has also confirmed that Dhoni was so desperate to return to the game as he worked harder.

The friend added, “He has worked even harder in last few months before everything stopped. I haven’t seen him doing agility training so intensely ever. He knows he is not getting younger and perhaps that is why training even harder to keep himself fit.”

The friend is also confident that Dhoni will take his chances when many cricket fans are backing him.

He added, “Dhoni has proved everyone wrong when no one backed him. Now there are millions of fans to back him. So he will take his chances for sure.”
