West Indies legend Chris Gayle has got himself in the news after publicly giving the controversial statement for losing the contract from Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise Jamaica Tallawahs. He has blamed his former teammate Ramnaresh Sarwan for getting his deal off from Tallawahs. Cricket West Indies (CWI) chief Ricky Skerritt has reacted on the veteran statement, saying that it should have not happened.
The hard-hitting batsman has signed with St Lucia Zouks for playing in the CPL 2020. He played for Jamaica Tallawahs till 2016 after which he shifted his base to St Kitts and Nevis Patriot (2017-2018), but returned to Tallawahs for the last season.
The 40-year-old has pointed the fingers on Sarwan for plotting against him for the exit from the Tallawahs. He even didn’t shy to say that his former national teammate was “worse than coronavirus”.

“Sarwan, you are worse than the coronavirus right now,” Gayle had said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
“What transpired with the Tallawahs, you have a big part to play because you and the owner are like this (very close).”
I hope it doesn’t become a world matter in terms of the career of Chris Gayle: CWI chief
Reacting to the comment, Skerritt said that it was an unfortunate incident and hoped it doesn’t have an impact on Gayle’s career.

“I’m sure there is some kind of discussion taking place at the moment between Chris and the CPL because the CPL has rules which will come into view here because Chris is signed into a franchise team,” Skerrit was quoted as saying by ‘Jamaica-Gleaner’.

“I hope it doesn’t become a world matter in terms of the career of Mr Gayle, because it’s been a very outstanding career and I really wouldn’t want to see it brought to an end by this event,” he added.
“If a player is contracted to a club or a franchise or to Cricket West Indies that kind of behavior brings that contract into some level of disrepute,” he added.
Chris Gayle last played a competitive match in the BPL 2020. He is the part of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL 2020. However, the pandemic has halted all the matches and tournaments at present, so the destructive batsman will have to wait to make his appearance again.
