Three huge stadium shows are lined up in the WWE calendar and being the top-most superstar, Roman Reigns is the favorite to headline all of them. It appears that a major match for the dual champion is on hold as WWE is eyeing that one for at least in one of those shows.

Following on from WrestleMania Backlash, WWE has their annual Hell In A Cell event in June. After this, WWE will have two major stadium events in July for Money In The Bank and SummerSlam. Speculations suggest that WWE will pull the trigger on this Roman Reigns encounter in either of these two events.

Huge Match For Roman Reigns On Hold For A Big 2022 WWE Stadium Show 1

WWE is reportedly holding off on a singles encounter between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre until a proper bigger event appears, according to recent updates from Dave Meltzer on an edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

The two men were supposed to square off in a title match after the recent altercation on Smackdown. But they will instead be colliding at the upcoming WrestleMania Backlash premium live event as part of a six-man tag team match. Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre were injected into the originally planned tag team title championship unification match between RK-Bro and The Usos. As of this writing, this match is announced to be a non-title encounter.

Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre could happen in the UK

Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre have been participating in singles actions during live events since the WrestleMania 38 season. But WWE is holding off their TV match for a premium live event, a match where both the WWE and Universal Titles should be on the line. Simply stating, WWE wants to do this babyface vs. heel match at a ‘bigger’ show given that they consider this as a major bout.

Speaking of the match, WWE will also have the first-ever Clash At The Castle show in September, which is another stadium event. Since this event is scheduled from the United Kingdom, McIntyre is expected to be the headliner on the card. He is expected to face either Roman Reigns or Tyson Fury in one of the marquee matches but things are yet to be confirmed.

When speaking to Cultaholic Wrestling, McIntyre also admitted that facing Roman Reigns at the upcoming UK show would be a dream scenario for him,

“Claymore at the Principality? Well, my goal is the title, like no matter when I can get my hands on Roman. He’s got all the gold, he’s the man right now, and it’s frankly not even close right now. I am working my way towards that match whenever it happens in the next five months. Maybe in the Principality, I’ll take it wherever it happens, but obviously, that would be a dream scenario.”
