London outfit Brand Finance has revealed the list of world’s most valuable clubs as per their brand value. According to the data collected by the firm, Real Madrid have the highest brand value in world football worth $1.768 billion. The fact that Real have been ranked at number one is no surprise since this is the fourth consecutive time they have claimed the to spot.
Other giants in FC Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United too have made the top 10. However, Real and Barca’s companions Atletico Madrid have failed to find a spot on the list. Meanwhile, some rankings have been rearranged after the last season, but the defending UEFA Champion League winners Real have been resolute in keeping their first place.

Real Madrid retain top spot, no Italian club in top 10, Liverpool pip Man United,
The data and research done by Brand Finance to determine the rankings is based on everything ranging from merchandise sales to sponsorship deals of every club. The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United have been regulars in the list. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Tottenham who have had a massive downfall in recent years too have managed to make the top 10 this time.
Given Real Madrid’s mesmerising Champions League triumph last season, which coupled with the La Liga title and Spanish Super Cup the Los Blancos have retained their top spot. They have topping the chart since 2018 after winning five Champions League titles in the last decade. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that despite losing some superstars in Cristiano Ronaldo who left in 2018 and Gareth Bale who left this summer, Real are standing tall in the list.
Second spot has been claimed by 21/22 Premier League winners Manchester City, who are valued at $1.539 billion. Business as usual for City who are on the rise after winning four league titles in last five years. Add to it, Erling Haaland’s signing this summer has only helped them to increase their brand value. Their fierce rivals Liverpool have made remarkable progress this time, pipping Manchester United to fourth place.

The Reds were placed fifth last time, a spot below the Devils. However, a domestic cup double of FA Cup and League Cup, and a third Champions League final in five years has whoppingly boosted their brand value by 30%, taking it to $1.475 billion. Manchester United, who despite experiencing a 11% rise in their value had to settle below the Merseyside club with $1.45 billion.
FC Barcelona, who themselves are in a debt of $1.5 billion have despite bagged the third spot while boasting a value of $1.536 billion. The Catalans have activated several economic levers this summer, and also struck a lucrative deal with Spotify which saw their famous Camp Nou renamed to Spotify Camp Nou. However, the departure of club legend Lionel Messi last summer did impact their financial value massively.
One surprise though was the failure of an Italian club to make the top 10 list. The likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Inter didn’t find a place in the top 10 of the clubs with highest brand value. On the other hand, North Londoners Arsenal and Tottenham did manage to crack the list after impressive campaigns last season. While Spurs are placed 8th, another London club Chelsea is sandwiched at 9th, with Arsenal rounding-off at 10th.
