Sean Ervine (Zimbabwe) – 221.42 vs New Zealand (at Bloemfontein on 8th March 2003)

It was the third game in the Super Sixes stage of the 2003 ODI World Cup. After the Zimbabwean team decided to bat first, their batsmen were struggling against the Kiwi bowlers. However, their late batsmen played some powerful knocks that helped the Zimbabwe team to manage the first innings total of 252/7 (50 overs).
Coming to bat in the 44th over, when Zimbabwe were struggling on 174/7, Sean Ervine played the firing knock of 31 not out off just 14 balls with the help of 4 fours and only six. During that fine cameo knock, Ervine had the strike-rate of 221.42.
However, Nathan Astle’s 102 not out guided the New Zealand team to the comfortable victory as they won that match by six wickets (253/4 in 47.2 overs).
