It was the 23rd match of the 2003 ODI World Cup (Group Stage). After restricting the England team to 246/8 (50 overs) in the first innings, Pakistan batting faced deep trouble right from the beginning of the second innings.

When the last Pakistan batsman Shoaib Akhtar came to bat in that game, the Asian side were struggling on 80/9 and they had no hope in that game. Akhtar, who recorded a top speed bowling delivery of 161.3 km/h (100.23 mph) during the early first innings of that match, scored his best ODI knock of 43 runs off just 16 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. While he was Pakistan’s highest scorer in that innings, he had the batting strike-rate of 268.75.

Before Akhtar lost his wicket, Pakistan managed to score 134 runs as they lost that match by 112 runs.
