Adam Gilchrist (Australia) – 100 runs vs Sri Lanka (at Bridgetown on 28th April 2007)

It was the rain-interrupted final match in the 2007 ODI World Cup where the Australian opener Adam Gilchrist single-handedly controlled the entire game situation. After the Australian captain Ricky Ponting decided to bat first, the opener and wicketkeeper-batsman Gilchrist not only smashed a 72-ball century, but he also scored 149 runs off just 104 balls.
During that knock, the left-handed batsman Gilchrist scored 100 runs from the boundaries with the help of 13 fours and 8 sixes. His batting helped Australia to manage the first innings total of 281/4 (38 overs).
Chasing down that mammoth target, later which was revised to 269 runs target in 36 overs, Sri Lanka were restricted to 215/8 (36 overs). Australia won that match by 53 runs (D/L method).
