The experienced New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris was very consistent with the bat during the 2007 ODI World Cup as he finished that tournament as the most run-scorer for his national team. During that tournament, the right-handed top-middle-order batsman Styris scored 499 runs in nine innings with an average of 83.16, including one century and four half-centuries.

Styris started that tournament with two back-to-back half-centuries in the Group Stage matches against England (87 not out) and Kenya (63 runs). In the Super 8 stage, while Styris scored 80 not out against the hosts West Indies, he scored 111 not out against Sri Lanka and 56 against South Africa in the back-to-back matches.
