Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) – 548 runs

While Sri Lanka finished the 2007 ODI World Cup as the runners-up, their captain Mahela Jayawardene played impressive role with the bat. The right-handed top-order batsman finished as the second most run-scorer in that tournament as he scored 548 runs in 11 innings with an average of 60.88. He also hit one century and four half-centuries during that tournament.
Jayawardene started the tournament with the knock of 85 runs against Bermuda during the Group Stage (at Port of Spain on 15th March 2007). Later, in the Super 8 stage, Jayawardene scored back-to-back 82 and 56 runs against West Indies and England respectively.
In the semi-final of that tournament against New Zealand (at Kingston on 24th April 2007), Jayawardene scored 115 not out off 109 balls (10 fours and 3 sixes).
