Legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan bowled impressively on the Caribbean soil during the 2007 ODI World Cup. He was the most wicket-taker among the spinners in that tournament who got 23 wickets in 10 matches. His overall bowling performances in that tournament were 84.4-1-351-23 with an incredible average of 15.26 and economy rate of 4.14.

Muralitharan managed to claim two four-wicket hauls in that tournament, one was against Ireland in the Super 8 stage and the other one was against New Zealand in the semi-final. During the match against Ireland (at St George’s on 18th April 2007), Muralitharan had the bowling figures of 5-0-19-4. Later, the off-spinner achieved the bowling figures of 8-0-31-4 in the semi-final (at Kingston on 24th April 2007).
