Virender Sehwag (India) – 86 runs against Bangladesh (at Dhaka on 19th February 2011)
Indian opener Virender Sehwag showed his batting dominance during the opening game of the 2011 World Cup (Group B), where India faced Bangladesh at Dhaka. After the hosts Bangladesh decided to bat first, Sehwag punished the Bangladesh bowlers very badly.
The right-handed opening batsman Sehwag scored 175 runs off 140 balls in that opening match of that tournament. During that giant knock, Sehwag scored 86 runs from the boundaries with the help of 14 fours and 5 sixes. His batting helped the Indian team to set up the giant first innings total of 370/4 (50 overs).
In reply, the Indian bowlers restricted the Bangladesh batsmen to 283/9 as the Indian team won that match by 87 runs.
