Kevin O’Brien (Ireland) – 88 runs against England (at Bengaluru on 2nd March 2011)
It was the 15th game of the 2011 World Cup (Group B). After England decided to bat first, they managed to score 327/8 in the first innings (50 overs).
In reply, losing the opener and skipper William Porterfield from the first delivery of the second innings, Ireland were fighting but suddenly they went down to 111/5. However, the Irish middle-order batsman Kevin O’Brien was in the different mood at that night which helped his team to achieve something unthinkable at that time.
Kevin recorded the fastest Cricket World Cup century as the right-handed batsman completed his century in just 50 balls. He finally scored 113 runs off just 63 balls. During that knock, Kevin smashed 13 fours and 6 sixes as he scored 88 runs from the boundaries in that innings. His batting massively helped his team to successfully chase down the 328 runs target in 49.1 overs (329/7) as Ireland stunningly won that match by three wickets.
