Tillakaratne Dilshan (Sri Lanka) – 500 runs
Another Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan played a big role for his team during the 2011 World Cup where Sri Lanka finished as the runners-up. The right-handed opening batsman Dilshan finished the tournament as the most run-scorer after scoring 500 runs in nine innings with an average of 62.50.
During that tournament, Dilshan hit two centuries and two half-centuries. When they met against Zimbabwe in the Group Stage of that tournament (at Pallekele on 10th March 2011), Dilshan scored 144 runs off 131 balls (16 fours and only six).
Later, during the in the quarter-final of the 2011 World Cup against England (at Colombo, RPS on 26th March 2011), Dilshan scored 108 not out off 115 balls (10 fours and 2 sixes).
