While England finished the 2016 T20 World Cup as the runners-up, the English left-arm pacer David Willey played a very important role for his team with the ball in hand. Willey managed to pick up 10 wickets in six innings of that tournament. He finished that tournament with the overall bowling figures of 21-0-159-10 with an average 15.90 and economy rate of 7.57.

Willey managed to deliver his best bowling performance in that tournament during the final of the tournament against West Indies (at Kolkata on 3rd April 2016) where he had the bowling figures of 4-0-20-3. However, unfortunately, his team just missed out to win that trophy.
